The
industry
median
is 250
hours
for
one
hour
of CBT/e-Learning.
Development
includes
the
following
phases:
1. Analysis/Content
Outline
2. High
Level/Detailed
Design
3. Storyboard
Development
4. Asset
Production
& Programming
(Authoring)
5. Quality
Assurance
When
the
question
of development
hours
per
hour
of CBT/e-Learning
is asked,
most
people
are
usually
only
thinking
about
Phase
4, or
the
actual
media
production
and
authoring.
Yet,
Phase
4 usually
represents
much
less
than
50%
of the
total
development
time.
The
largest
amount
of time
goes
into
the
analysis,
design
and
development
of the
course
(phases
1-3),
none
of which
has
much
to do
with
the
more
exciting
parts
of multimedia
training
development
like
graphic
production
and
authoring.
